Parkside Homes in Hillsboro hosted a successful Luau fundraiser at the Hillsboro Farmers’ Market on Thursday, July 21st. It was a hot, but well supported community event in the park. The heat did not keep the community from coming out to enjoy a festive evening.

Parkside raised funds for folding chairs to be used for future community and resident events at Parkside.

The menu included a 300 lb pig from the Burdick Meat Market that our Director of Nursing, Jennifer Gaines and her family smoked for 17 hours. The menu also featured other traditional Luau items including rice, macaroni salad, fresh fruit and Hawaiian sweet rolls prepared by Parkside’s dining team.

The fundraiser raised approximately $900, raising the total chair fund to $2500. Parkside is now able to purchase approximately 100 folding chairs and racks to store them in.

Parkside Homes would like to especially thank our board of directors and the entire Parkside team for putting together this special event. They would like to thank the community for coming out to support them.

The next fundraiser event will be the German Buffet on August 26, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Proceeds from this event will go to purchase new lifts for the nursing department to assist residents that require the use of a lift. They are in need of three lifts that cost close to $15,000.
