Last week’s Confident DON: A Master Class for New LTC Nurse Leaders was an energizing two-day experience packed with meaningful learning for the 23 DONs in attendance. The collaboration, resource sharing, and peer-to-peer problem-solving among the group made this a unique opportunity for our members.

Through nine learning sessions, participants explored everything from purposeful leadership and team oversight to strengthening care plans, boosting staff performance, risk awareness, survey readiness, and KDADS reporting expectations. Case studies and interactive learning exercises cemented learning.

This event would not have been possible without the support of Grace Team services.  A special thanks to Reesa Legleiter, Chrystal Richmond, and Tammy Pettijohn from Grace Team for developing content, guiding discussions, sharing expertise, and creating a welcoming, productive learning environment. We also extend sincere appreciation to Guardian Pharmacy for their generous sponsorship and to Brewster Place for hosting us on their campus.

Participants from the training will continue learning together through a series of follow-up Zoom sessions covering MDS training, pharmacy needs, documentation best practices, and the Five-Star assessment tool.

If you missed out on joining us for this round of the Confident DON, you can join us for the next offering of this class in February in Wichita!
