On March 21, LeadingAge responded to a request from Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Ranking Member Bill Cassidy (R-LA), along with other senators, for feedback on the upcoming reauthorization of the OAA. LeadingAge’s response outlines the crucial importance of continued and increased funding for OAA. LeadingAge’s comments stress the need for increased funding for OAA programs that support aging in place, the role of SHIPs and post-acute care, support for the Strategic Plan on Aging Act and ICC on Healthy Aging and Age-Friendly Communities as pathways to an office on aging policy in the White House, and support for funding for intentional coordination on older adult homelessness.
