We are announcing our own good news this week as we welcome our new Director of Government Affairs Kylee Childs. We first met Kylee at the Kansas statehouse while she was doing legislative work with the Children’s Alliance of Kansas and finishing her Masters in Social Work. She’s only been with us a few weeks and has already become a high impact member of the LeadingAge Kansas team. We are so excited for you to get to know her!

A little more about Kylee:

Kylee was born and raised in Hays and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology with a minor in Conflict Analysis and Trauma Studies from Kansas State University in 2017. While working on her undergraduate degree, she worked as a 911 dispatcher at the Riley County Police Department where she met her husband, Jeff, who works as a K9 handler. She and her husband have two young daughters, Kezlee and Kazlyn, and live in Manhattan. After graduation, she transitioned to work on her Master of Social Work degree and worked in foster care homes at Saint Francis Ministries for a little over 4 years. She completed her concentration practicum at the Children’s Alliance of Kansas in child welfare policy and graduated with her degree in May 2023. She is excited to continue working on systems-level change, advocate for aging services, and be a part of LeadingAge Kansas. If you’d like to reach out to say welcome, or have any government affairs issues you need addressed, please reach out to her kylee@leadingagekansas.org
