CMS published a request for information on the July 18 Federal Register seeking input from the public on the design of a future episode-based payment model with a focus on care transitions and specialty care. Respondents have 30 days (until August 17) to submit comments to CMS. LeadingAge will be reviewing the RFI and responding. Members and state partners will recall that LeadingAge has been advocating CMS and CMMI for several years encouraging CMS/CMMI to develop a new alternative payment model that permits aging service providers to lead. Some progress was made with the announcement of the ACO REACH program which does permit SNFs to form a REACH entity, but we will continue to seek opportunities for members as new models are developed.
