Based on a question posed by a LeadingAge Kansas member, Melissa Mille, with KDADS has clarified that if a nursing home resident is changing rooms within the building (like from “regular” nursing home room to a special care area), it would be considered a room change NOT a discharge so the provider is not required to issue a discharge notice. If you have experienced a survey in which this was cited, please contact Melissa Mille by email or by phone at (785) 296-1023.
