As we shared last week, CMS released a proposed rule on August 31st that includes several provisions aimed at simplifying the enrollment process and maintaining coverage for eligible older adults dually enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid, and that helps more older adults pay their Medicare premiums by making it easier for them to enroll in Medicare Savings Programs. The proposed changes allow individuals to project HCBS costs for medically needy income eligibility. This LeadingAge article provides more information on the current Medicaid barriers and the proposed changes.

LeadingAge Kansas will be meeting with the Mediciad eligibility program leaders next week and will keep you updated on any activities we may see from KDHE if the rule is enacted.
