The FDA announced on October 31 that there is a shortage of tracheostomy tubes due to a supply shortage of raw materials that are used to manufacture the tubes. The FDA announcement specifically lists Bivona tracheostomy tubes, however, the FDA notes that alternate tubes with similar functionality may be limited as well.  Health care providers caring for people who currently have tracheostomy tubes should contact the distributor or manufacturer directly to inquire about the current inventory, including appropriate alternatives. Here are additional FDA-cleared tracheostomy tubes that may use different raw materials.
