The Robert G. (Bob) Bethell Joint Committee on Home and Community Based Services and KanCare Oversight held its first interim meeting today, May 6. The agenda included updates from Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services, and the KanCare managed care organizations, along with testimony from individuals, providers, and stakeholder organizations.

LeadingAge Kansas submitted written testimony regarding the HCBS Frail Elderly (FE) waitlist, which was set to begin May 1. The testimony requested ongoing legislative oversight of implementation and management, highlighted the need to eliminate fax-based billing processes, and raised the potential need for financial support during initial rollout.

The hearing is available to watch on YouTube.

Future committee meetings are scheduled for August 11–12 and October 6–7.
