On May 21st, Tami Middleton, HR Director with Village Shalom in Overland Park was presented KING’s first ever Safety Designation – Gold Level certificate. The Safety Designation Program was launched in 2018. The program incorporates claims management, industry specific best management practices and loss control activities.

Benchmarks used include timely claim reporting, STAR training, formal return to work program, loss targeted training and attendance at KING training activities. Member status level is reviewed with the member at the end of each policy year. Based on results, members can be designated as a Silver, Gold or Platinum level member. The KING Safety Designation Program will allow members and the KING service team to evaluate performance, assess where improvements or innovation are most needed and achieve results.

Kevin McFarland is the President and CEO of KING. As President/CEO of the KING Workers’ Compensation Program, Kevin built and refined the program during his nearly forty-year tenure at LeadingAge Kansas. Not one to back away from a new venture, Kevin also took on management of LeadingAge Kansas Employee Benefits, Inc. (EBI) in 2023 as Executive Director. A 1982 graduate of Kansas State University, Kevin began his career in aging services as a Social Worker for current member, Meadowlark Hills, and to this day, maintains his Social Work license, in addition to being a licensed insurance agent. Kevin frequently engages with his community by facilitating current events discussion groups at Topeka member organizations and the Shepherd’s Center of Topeka, and by serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. David’s Episcopal Church.
