Last Friday, 7/21/23, KDADS hosted a stakeholder meeting to provide updates on many topics. Review the highlights below.
Licensure and Enforcement Stats Quarter 2

- Number of Correction Orders (SLO): 74 Number of CMPS Issued (SLO): 12 – up from 0 prior quarter
- 47 resurveys were conducted for Q2 of CY 2023, of which 11 had G+ deficiencies.
- 4% of all deficiencies were G+, showing an increase of .9% from Q1.
*The state wanted to emphasize the importance of provider participation in IDR panels as they have noticed fewer volunteers. Participating in the IDR panel offers fellow providers peer representation during the process.
PDPM Trainings and Cost Reports
An email blast will be sent out August 1st to providers and stakeholders containing information related to upcoming PDPM trainings with various associations and updated cost report instructions. KDADS will be partnering with LeadingAge Kansas for the PDPM training on October 3rd at our Fall Conference.
Supplemental Nursing Program
KDADS’ Supplemental Nursing Program has one active case with a for-profit, AL. Total hours to date provided by the program is 72,659.95 hours for a total cost of $4.2M. The request process and funding are still available through May 2024.
Corrective Action Plan for HCBS Final Settings Rule
KDADS’ released their remediation strategies to come into compliance with the HCBS Final Settings Rule. LeadingAge Kansas has expressed concerns with applying the rule to aging services with KDADS and will highlight the topic at the upcoming Bob Bethell Joint Committee on Thursday, August 8th.
Legislative Updates
Testimony for Bob Bethell Joint Committee was due Tuesday, July 25th. Rachel Monger plans to provide updates before the committee on various topics including Medicaid applications, HCBS Final Settings Rule, and survey trends. KDADS will host a Stakeholder Budget Meeting for FY 24 on August 14th from 10:00 AM to noon at the Sunflower Foundation. LeadingAge Kansas will testify on the need for fully funded reimbursement and the add-on payment to help close the gap. The Special Committee on Nursing Facility Reimbursement Rate Methodology has been scheduled for September 21st and 22nd. LeadingAge Kansas has started compiling data to prepare for this committee.
