On Jan. 16th, Topeka Presbyterian Manor and Harbin Construction kicked off a $1.6 million renovation project.
Work on the 17-acre senior living campus will include a redesign and remodel of the main entrance, common areas, dining rooms and the library. Construction will create separate dining and event spaces for residents in independent and assisted living. This change will enable staff to tailor dining services and programs to the needs of each group.
“Renovations to the campus will create an opportunity to provide enhanced programming to residents,” said Heather Pilkinton, executive director of Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
To complete the project, Presbyterian Manor partnered with Harbin Construction, a multi-discipline general contracting firm with more than 60 years’ experience.
“We’re excited for our first partnership with Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America” said Bill Shipley, senior project manager for Harbin. “We’re all here for the same reason, which makes this type of project fun and rewarding.
“In seeing residents every day, we know that this is their home and want to make sure they feel like they own a part of the experience.”
The renovations will take approximately six months. Beginning Jan. 30, the main entrance will close for the duration of the project. In the meantime, residents and their guests may enter on the north side of the building at the entrance to the Garden Independent Living area.
Pilkinton said resident needs drove the renovation decision-making process.
“Our focus is to positively impact the lives of those we serve presently and into the future,” Pilkinton said. “It is a joy and a privilege to be part of this project.”
