Just this week alone, we’ve heard from three separate providers on the challenges they have been facing with getting CARE assessments completed timely due to AAAs, CARE certificates being provided to the facility but not uploaded to the portal to go to KDHE therefore delaying Medicaid applications, KanCare ongoing fax issues, and miscommunication issues. We recognize these circumstances lead to financial losses or write-offs for providers, and we want to help. We are coordinating a meeting with both the CARE assessment leadership staff and KanCare eligibility leadership staff to identify the root cause of these problems and solutions. The leadership teams are asking for us to provide them with specific cases they can look into to help address the root cause.

Please send Kylee Childs an email by Thursday this week with the reference ID or case number only (no other identifiable information) on any assessments or applications that have been an issue, a brief one sentence statement on what the main issue was (fax not working, delayed processing or upload, miscommunication, etc.), and if your provider facility has or will be incurring any financial loss related to that particular case.

Example:

Case 12345678, fax not received at KDHE, but provider received confirmation it went through, financial loss of 1 month at $XXXX.XX.
