We excited to announce the opportunity to educate and discuss the issue of antipsychotic and psychotropic medications within the LeadingAge Kansas membership.

You may be asking what is the Psychotropic Stewardship Group?

Well I’ll tell you it is series of 7-10 minute video snippets, presented by long-term care expert Amy Siple, APRN, FPN, GS-C, on essential topics related to antipsychotic and psychotropic medication that can be used for one-on-one and group education, refreshers, and discussion. 

  • Psychotropic Medication Affinity Group – a facilitated peer-to-peer support and learning group that will meet quarterly throughout 2022. Register for the first meeting here. On March 3rd 1 – 2:30 PM.
  • Expert Virtual Technical Assistance for Members of the Affinity Group (Up to one hour covered by LeadingAge Kansas in 2022. If more time is needed, the member is asked to make a separate arrangement with our expert advisor.) Contact Amy at amysiplenp@gmail.com
  • Speaker/Facilitator – Amy Siple, APRN, FPN, GS-C has been a national speaker on health care issues that impact older adults as well as the empowerment of their caregivers for more than 20 years. She maintains an active practice as a geriatric nurse practitioner and was a tenured associate professor of nursing for over 15 years. She is recognized as a leading expert on dementia-related topics and has been appointed by two Kansas governors to serve on boards and task forces to represent the health care interests of older adults. Amy is the President of the Kansas Advanced Practice Nurses Association. She appreciates the opportunity to positively influence the lives of her patients and their caregivers.

Addy Cunningham
A graduate of Wichita State University’s Math Education program, Addy is using her planning and organizational skills, creativity, and love of helping others to support our providers and members. First as Administrative Coordinator and now as Associate Director of Communications & Events, Addy’s primary duties include overseeing general member communications through social media, our Weekly Member Calls, the Aging Update, and database and website maintenance. She also collaborates with the team to plan, produce, and market events across all aspects of LeadingAge Kansas, manage Continuing Education processing.. Outside of the office, Addy enjoys crafting, playing board games, video games, and DnD, and spending time with her husband and their two cats.
