KDADS hosted a stakeholder call on Tuesday, December 5th and covered various topics including the salmonella outbreaks from cantaloupe, budget neutrality with PDPM conversion, and LTCUs transitioning back to free-standing SNFs. KDADS advised when they have helped two facilities make the transition from a LTCU license under the hospital’s authority back to a free-standing SNF, they recognized these facilities had old KDADS licenses displayed from before the facility became a LTCU. KDADS requested LTCUs check the licenses they have displayed to ensure they are accurate.

Trend analysts are seeing increases in reimbursement to providers with the transition to PDPM in other states. The concern becomes whether there will be claw backs due to budget neutrality provisions in the state. KDADS advised they will look into this further with their current waiver authority but did note they are looking at moving away from a budget neutrality position.
