Bethany Home Assisted Living offers comfortable apartment living without the hassles of home ownership and upkeep. Residents and families appreciate the convenience and safety of having full service dining, activities and events, and help when they need it. A division of the Bethany Home Association, the Assisted Living has been under the watchful eye of Operator, Karen Carlson, RN-BC, since opening in the spring of 2014. The facility offers 20 individual apartments, including studios, one and two bedroom configurations, and is licensed to meet the needs of up to 30 people.
Now in its fourth year of operation, Bethany Home Assisted Living is preparing for new leadership. Longtime employee and Assisted Living Operator Karen Carlson has accepted an offer to pursue a new career opportunity and Skylar Hanson, RN has been selected to fill the role of Assisted Living Operator.
Skylar Hanson obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree from Brown Mackie College in 2011; her Operator’s License in 2015 and graduated with a Registered Nursing (RN) degree from Hutchinson Community College in 2017. Having worked with Bethany Home Association since May of 2014, she has developed a great passion for helping others and states, “I love to learn and am excited to take on this new challenge and continue my work with such a great company!”
Since earning her certification as a Licensed Assisted Living Operator, Skylar has continuously engaged in educational opportunities to prepare for this position and has been working with Karen to develop the additional skills and knowledge to manage the day-to-day operations. “Skylar and I have been working toward this goal for the past few years and I am so excited for her to be leading our Assisted Living team,” says Karen. “She has the knowledge and skills to carry us through expansion and beyond!”
When not at work, Skylar enjoys spending time on her farm near Assaria with her husband Matt, their four year old daughter Laura, two year old son Harrison, “two dogs, a bunch of wild farm cats, and three worthless horses.”
Sadee Nichols, LPN, will be filling the nursing vacancy left by Skylar. As the primary nurse for the Assisted Living, she will oversee all resident care plans and medications and assist Skylar in daily activities.
Sadee has worked intermittently for Bethany Home since 2015 and at Lindsborg’s Family Health Care Clinic for the past six years. Sadee has been in the health care field since she was a child, volunteering as a candy striper for Shiloh Manor in Canton at the age of ten years old. “I’m excited to have more contact with the residents and get involved with their everyday lives,” says Sadee.
