CMS recently released the Fiscal Year (FY) Skilled Nursing Facility Prospective Payment System Proposed Rule (CMS 1765-P). The rule updates Medicare payment policies and includes proposals for the SNF QRP and VBP programs. There is a lot to cover in the proposed rule: a reduction in SNF payments, adoption of new measures, changes in ICD-10 code mappings and revised compliance dates. The proposed rule is also seeking a request for information on coding and staffing requirements. We will be reviewing and analyzing in the next few days and put out an overview as well as a plan for comments. The 60 day comment period starts now – comments are due on June 10, 2022.
