Congratulations to Stephanie Gfeller and the LeadingAge Kansas team for receiving a coveted Susan Harwood Training Grant from OSHA. The program is focused on Long-Term Care Resident to Staff Aggression: Prevention and Response.  The training will be available in-person, through a live virtual session and on-demand through video-based training. It will be developed and led by long-term care experts with direct resident care experience, workplace safety professionals and experienced adult educators. The project aims to arm long-term care employers and employees with the information, skills, and resources needed to recognize the hazard the violence by residents presents to caregiver health and safety as well as methods at the organizational and individual worker levels to prevent, de-escalate and respond during incidents. Post-incident response actions and options specific to the nuances of the field will also be explored. Trainings will be highly interactive and have a heavy emphasis on application of learning. The project proposes to train 380 long-term care workers and employers.

Stay tuned for more information on this training opportunity coming your way in 2022. For questions or congratulations, contact Stephanie at stephanie@leadingagekansas.org .
