Congress Introduced H.R. 4468: The Nursing Home Workforce Quality Act.

The Issue:

Under federal law, nursing homes are inspected annually and fines are assessed for any deficiencies in compliance with federal regulations. If these fines exceed a certain level ($10,697 as of 2018), a nursing home automatically loses its authority to train certified nursing assistants (CNAs) for two years. This “CNA Training Lockout” runs counter to a nursing home’s ability to provide the highest quality of care.

H.R. 4468 is the second bill introduced to address this unfair penalty. It would end the mandatory 2-year lockout by authorizing the training program be reinstated once the deficiencies for which the nursing home is cited are corrected.

Now is the time to use your voice and help us build momentum for this legislation. We need your U.S. Representative to become a cosponsor of this new legislation and show their support for nursing homes in your community.
