Well, here we are on the other side of October 1st. We’ve all known that PDPM was coming and you have all undoubtably taken steps to make sure your community is prepared. HERE are the nuts and bolts that CMS uses to determine your rate. It’s a long document, but helps you get to how this is calculated.
HERE is a document from KDADS and explains how Myers and Stauffer will be utilizing PDPM.
Lastly, I have been reading several articles on therapy layoffs. This is concerning and CMS has reminded the provider community that they will be monitoring for shifts in therapy practices. As I understand, the ramification could be an audit that goes back one plus years and a correction of therapy minutes/utilization. Be sure to understand the long-reaching implications of business decisions made so early in the transition to PDPM. As you move forward, ensure that you are admitting with the most appropriate diagnosis coding and that your documentation is solid and supports the care that you give.
