The Fire Marshal has asked the associations to remind nursing homes to send notice to the Fire Marshal’s office when any renovations are occurring.

They received a message from CMS regarding Plan Reviews, stating that there has been an increase in Immediate Jeopardy citations for adult care homes doing renovation work with no notice to the survey agency and fire marshal. Homes are not following the code with regard to separation requirements, exiting, allowing residents to move through the area, and fire watches after removing smoke detectors and sprinklers.
