UPCS BookWith the new rules that have taken effect, there are many new responsibilities for the escort. Never before has the person(s) selected to go with the REAC inspector played such an important role.
The Escort Can:
- Turn on angle stops under sinks/toilet
- Reset most breakers if tripped
- Remove resident owned items interfering with operation of doors
- Relight pilot light on range
- Insert light bulbs to prove fixture works
- Plug in bathroom exhaust fan to prove operational
- Reset breaker on garbage disposal
- Plug in window air conditioners to check for proper operation
When it comes to the REAC inspection, the person selected to escort the inspector is the most important person in your organization. Regardless of the amount of money and time spent in preparation, sending an ill informed escort will have a devastating impact on your score.
