The Eligibility staff with KDHE met with associations last Friday to provide updates on aged applications and other issues surrounding the eligibility process. As of May 17, 2024, there are 296 long-term care applications aged over 45 days. The long-term care applications do include nursing facility and HCBS. The total number of long-term care applications in the queue is 1,567, making aged applications about 19% of the total. This percentage is down from 25% in January. KDHE is still working to see which data requests from LeadingAge Kansas, KHCA, and KACE they can accommodate soon. The department says they have increased their HCBS and LTC subject matter expertise, which has helped with processing applications timelier.

Request from KDHE Eligibility: Nursing facilities have been trying to upload applications and review through the upload portal. New applications and renewals should be done through the Customer Self Service Portal, not the provider upload portal. The provider upload portal should be used to submit additional supporting documentation only after an application has been filed and is in the queue.

The next quarterly NF KDHE Eligibility meeting is on June 30. There will be two sessions again, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Information on where to register will be sent out soon.
