This week a LeadingAge Kansas member, Homestead Health Center, shared with us Aetna has started utilizing ECHO as a third-party claims processor due to the Change Healthcare Cyberattack. The provider noticed they were being charged a 1.99% processing fee on all claims. After further digging through Aetna and ECHO, this is due to the provider being enrolled with ECHO under the “ALL Payers” payment process.

If your facility is also receiving processing fees for claims through ECHO, contact them at edi@echohealthinc.com to disenroll from “ALL Payers” and complete the form for “Single Payers” to circumvent the processing fee. Be sure to include your TIN, facility name, facility address, and facility phone number. The caveat to this is it will create more administrative work as the form must be completed for each individual payer.

Thank you to Elizabeth Howarth at Homestead Health Center for catching this and sharing the information with other providers!
