Speakers at the 2018 Innovations in Living with Dementia Community Forum.

Bluestem Communities is hosting its 6th annual Innovations in Living with Dementia Community Forum on June 26 at 6 p.m. at Hesston Mennonite Church. The educational event is free to the public and will feature a presentation by Dr. Jeffrey M. Burns, MD, MS, co-director of the KU Alzheimer’s Disease Center.

In addition to hearing from Dr. Burns, attendees will get the chance to engage with interactive booths and explore caregiver resources. The focus of the event will be on living well with dementia. Families, caregivers and medical professionals are all encouraged to attend.

Bluestem Communities recognizes the importance of providing resources to the public about this prevalent disease. The Alzheimer’s Association reports that one in three seniors will die with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. In addition, 16.1 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias.
