Kansas Age-Friendly Nursing Workforce Forum   

Join in on an engaging learning event and conversation bringing together nursing educators and long-term care leaders. The goal? Strengthening partnerships to increase the number of nursing graduates who choose careers in nursing homes. This important gathering is hosted by the Kansas Nursing Workforce Center in collaboration with the Kansas 4M Geriatrics Workforce Education Program (GWEP).

KDADS Annual Post Session Stakeholder Meeting 

LeadingAge Kansas will be attending the KDADS Annual Post-Legislative Session Stakeholder Meeting on June 12 from 1:00-3:00 PM in Topeka. Agency leadership plans to share updates on legislation passed and budget items from the 2025 session and how the agency plans to implement those items. Public Policy Committee Set to Meet June 11 

The LeadingAge Kansas Public Policy Committee will meet on June 11 to discuss post-session legislation and funding, set action items for the interim to prep for the 2026 session, and discuss advocacy actions for Medicaid at the congressional level. The committee meets monthly May-December, then weekly during legislative session January-April. Below is the committee makeup if you have questions or thoughts you’d like to share:

Kylee Childs, MSW, is the Director of Government Affairs.Since joining the association in 2023, she continues to be a fierce and resourceful advocate for aging services in Kansas. Her professional focus has always been service to others through advocacy. Kylee has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a bachelor's degree in criminology with a minor in Conflict Analysis and Trauma studies from Kansas State University, and a certificate in Grant Proposal Writing from Fort Hays State University. With a professional background in law enforcement and child welfare, and a successful 2023 legislative practicum with the Children's Alliance of Kansas, she brings rich professional experience to her role as Director of Government Affairs, and a front-line perspective on the needs of health and human services providers in our state.
