A community raffle was a new addition to this year’s 15th annual Fireworks Extravaganza—selling over 600 tickets. Kidron Bethel Village, a Bluestem community, hosts the festive event each year drawing thousands of attendees of all ages to the campus.

“We were really pleased with how the raffle went over,” said Kris White, director of fund advancement. “There were 24 local businesses that made the event possible. We are so thankful for their sponsorship and support, as well the North Newton Community Foundation who awarded us a $1,000 grant this year.”

Raffle prizes provided by local businesses included free pizza for a year from Papa John’s, $100 cash and donations from Sonic Drive-In, Hibbett Sports and SEARS Hometown Store. Sales benefitted the Health Care Benevolent Fund, which assists residents of Kidron Bethel Village who are unable to cover the full cost of their care.

Live music, children’s games and a grand fireworks show were also enjoyed by all. The fireworks show was put on by the Kidron Bethel Village maintenance team. Twenty-five gallons of ice cream were dished up and 560 hot dogs were sold.

Children of all ages enjoyed yard games. The Newton Lions Club volunteers helped with the games.

Local duo, The Erin Alan Project, provided live music at the July 4 event.
