On June 29th, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended that adults aged 60 and older be vaccinated against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV spikes in the fall and hits children and older adults the hardest, with as many as 160,000 hospitalizations and 10,000 deaths among adults 65 and older. The FDA approved the vaccines in May and CDC’s advisory committee endorsed the move and advanced it to CDC to make the official recommendation. The CDC recommendation means that most insurers cover the vaccine, including for those on Medicare. Read more on CDC’s RSV page.
