The letter informs states that Medicaid programs, in accordance with the Inflation Reduction Act, will be required to cover vaccines approved by the FDA and administered in accordance with recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). The coverage requirement takes effect October 1, 2023 and will cover almost all full benefit Medicaid or CHIP enrollees over age 19. Review the CMS fact sheet on the requirement.
