LeadingAge Kansas staff attended this training last week. Attendance at the training sessions in Overland Park and Wichita was very high. Many attendees were disappointed that representatives from the KanCare Clearinghouse were not in attendance, however the MCO representatives did a great job of answering questions and providing information on the KMAP website,as well as their individual websites.

LeadingAge Kansas members have been telling staff that they are having issues with the processing of 2126 forms when a resident switches from assisted living to long-term care. This question was brought up at the training and the MCO representatives indicated that the provider should get the resident’s MCO involved in getting that corrected.

Another topic of interest to our members was timely filing. The MCO representatives stressed that the timely filing periods for each provider are based on the contract terms in the contracts signed by the organization. This could differ from provider to provider, as well as each MCO. A review of your contracts with the MCOs would be advisable so that you know what the rules are with each.
