LeadingAge Kansas has convened a diverse group of individuals to help revise the current CNA curriculum. The group includes providers, instructors, community/tech colleges, KDADS HOC representatives and provider associations. The goal of the group is to revise the curriculum to be as “timeless” as possible and reference current best practices and regulations. They plan to comb through the curriculum as thoroughly as a group is able. There is a greater focus on person-centered care, dementia, communication, mental health, and cultural competencies. The group has reviewed roughly 1/4th of the curriculum.

The group is currently seeking more providers (nurses) to help with the process. They are heavy on instructors and colleges. The commitment is to meet virtually at least once a month for 2 hours. Additional time may be involved depending on the unit being reviewed. The group will likely meet for 2 more years.  If you are interested, contact Dana Weaver.
