The federal HCBS Setting Final Rule guidelines were developed several years ago to ensure Medicaid-covered individuals receiving long-term services and supports through HCBS programs have full access to benefits of community living and the opportunity to receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate. KDADS has launched an online provider self-assessment that can validate compliance for 100 percent of providers in Kansas.  All HCBS providers in Kansas must complete a self-assessment for each site they own or operate that receives HCBS Medicaid funding. Sites that are not assessed will not be eligible to receive Medicaid HCBS funding after March 17, 2022. The self-assessment will be available from now to February 29, 2020. Providers are encouraged to complete the self-assessment as soon as possible in order to find out which areas they need to remediate.
