Last week, Patricia Raasch of Mission Village in Horton met with her state representative Randy Garber. She discussed with him in great depth about CMS enforcement and the medicaid backlog issues. He left with an understanding of the dire financial impact that these issues are having on small rural nursing homes. Nate Glendening did the same with his state representative Ken Rahjes.  Both feel that their legislators left the meeting with their eyes opened to all of the steep challenges nursing homes are facing today.

Kidron Bethel Village met with new state legislator Tim Hodge. They shared their Medicaid funding and survey/enforcement issues with him, and supplied him with their fact sheet. He appreciated the information, and even entered their names and phone numbers into his cell phone in the event that he has questions during the session!

Have you connected with your two state legislators yet?  If yes, let us know.  If not, we strongly encourage you to do so as soon as you can. And don’t forget to present them with your customized organizational snapshot.
