From the LeadingAge National Dementia Care Services Listserv: A note about language—at LeadingAge we believe in always putting the person first. So, our preference is person living with dementia (vs. dementia patient, as used in the article below). It is also not our practice to describe the experience of living with dementia as “the long goodbye,” (also used in an article below), or to describe people with dementia as “suffering from” dementia.
