Recently we reported that Orie Ensz, Administrator at Good Samaritan Society-Parsons met with his state representative and planned to reach out to his new state senator as well. Well, that he did. He dropped us a note to let us know that he had lunch with Senator Dan Goddard, after which he visited the Good Samaritan campus.  They had a good long talk about the state of the Medicaid program and the rate cuts. Orie says, “Thanks for prompting us to build these relationships and I pray that we’ll see some changes that could actually benefit the nursing home/senior care entities.” We do, too!  Thanks for being an advocacy leader for your organization, the people you serve, and for setting an excellent example for other LeadingAge Kansas members.

Have you connected with your two state legislators yet?  If yes, let us know.  If not, we strongly encourage you to do so before they start their work at the Statehouse on January 9th. And don’t forget to present them with your customized organizational snapshot.
