Football great Gayle Sayers once said, “There comes a time when you have to stand up and be counted.” Now is one of those times.

We urge you to invite your state senator and state representative to visit your campus in December, so that they have a local, close up picture of the realities and challenges of your organization BEFORE they come to Topeka in January.

Let them experience the charm and warmth of the season in your community, but, more importantly, educate them about key facts about your organization. Customize this organizational fact sheet and share it as a snapshot of your history and mission, the people you serve and employ, your economic impact, revenue streams and shortfalls, great programs and projects and your critical challenges.

If you are a Medicaid provider, it is imperative that you educate both of your state legislators about what the shortfall in Medicaid reimbursement means for your organization and the people you serve and employ.  Urge them to restore the Governor’s Medicaid cuts and resist any attempt to cut Medicaid further.

Need to know who your legislators are and how to contact them?  Is this the first time you have stepped up to advocate in this way?  Need some help/ideas/encouragement?  Email Rachel or call her at 1-800-262-5242.
