Updated Effective April 4,2022 – Reporting Negative POC Testing Results to NHSN No Longer Required
Effective April 4, 2022, negative test results for point-of-care (POC) testing is no longer required to be reported. This means that nursing homes conducting point of care antigen tests in response to symptoms, as part of outbreak testing, or during routine staff screening testing, are required to report positive test results ONLY. Reporting of negative test results will be optional. Test results must be reported within 24 hours. Methods of submission remain unchanged. Tests results may be reported to public health, through a centralized health agency platform, through a state or regional health information exchange, or through the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) system. Results of all nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT), both positive and negative, must still be reported. Check out the updated guidance, effective April 4th, here. Review current guidance, in effect since January 2021, here.

Some Members Have Received Provider Relief Fund Repayment Letters
Some providers have received repayment letters from HRSA based upon their Period 1 reporting. The notices indicate a “failure to report” and tells the provider they must return the funds received between April and June 2020. Situations we’ve heard about so far are from members who did report but: 1 ) submitted a consolidated report and failed to report on the SNF Targeted distribution at the nursing home level; 2) relied upon the pre-populated list of funds received provided by HRSA in the reporting portal and now has been informed a payment was missing from this list; and 3) accidentally skipped a section of the report (e.g., reporting on lost revenues). LeadingAge has reached out to HRSA requesting a mechanism for providers to correct these unintentional errors in reporting. They are also working with AHCA to set up a joint meeting with HRSA to discuss a resolution to these issues. If you have received similar letters, please share this information with Nicole.
