This week we received a package from Grace Navarro of Elkton, South Dakota, with a hand-decorated card for each of our residents. Her enclosed letter stated, “When the nursing homes closed their doors to outside visitors in March, I decided to send cards to one nursing home per state. You are the 41st state/nursing home to receive cards from me.  It is my hope that these cards bring light to the residents and put a smile on their faces. Also, I wanted them to know that the outside world has not forgotten them.” Each card contained a personal greeting and words of encouragement. Her thoughtfulness warmed the hearts of both residents and staff, and we anticipate that several from our community will develop pen pal friendships with this lovely lady. We feel blessed to be the Kansas recipients of her kindness.
