LeadingAge Kansas is committed to providing programs and services that respond to member need and deliver outstanding value.  Our members continue to struggle with complying with the employee health insurance requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and to provide reasonably priced health benefits.  LeadingAge Kansas has explored many delivery methods in past years and found limited opportunity for long-term solutions to address this critical issue.

Earlier this year the LeadingAge Kansas Board engaged a consultant and legal services to conduct a feasibility study for developing an association-sponsored health plan through a vehicle called a “VEBA” – a Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association.  The VEBA framework would allow the association to offer members an employee benefits platform with specially designed plans under a collective, managed group that lowers health care spend.   Thomas McGee, LC was selected through an RFP process to assist us to conduct the next stage in evaluating the VEBA option. This step includes gathering information from LeadingAge Kansas members to: 1) gauge interest and 2) develop a preliminary evaluation of plan benefits and costs.
