Just a reminder for all members that the 1st mandatory deadline for Payroll Based Journaling (PBJ) data is November 14, 2016. At this time, CMS is reporting that 22% of Kansas nursing homes have not registered for PBJ.

If you have not registered yet, here are the instructions to register:

  • Step 1: Obtain a CMSNet User ID for PBJ Individual, Corporate and Third Party users, if you don’t already have one for other QIES applications (many users my already have this access for MDS submission).
  • Step 2: Use the QIES online User Registration tool to obtain a QIES Submission ID
    • Once you have registered for a CMSNet User ID, you will receive an email from mco@palmettogba.com containing your login information. Using this information, you will connect through the ‘CMS Secure Access Service’.
    • Once securely connected, select the ‘CMS QIES Systems for Providers’ link to access the QIES online ‘User Registration’ tool. New users must utilize the online ‘User Registration’ tool to obtain a QIES Submission login ID (the only exception is Corporate/Third-Party accounts).
  • Training: PBJ Training Modules for an introduction to the PBJ system and step by step registration instruction are available on QTSO e-University, select the PBJ option

It’s not too late, but remember that you will need to have data back to July 1st, and we’re hearing that waiting even until the end of the month to submit vs. e.g., every 2 weeks, can be very time consuming.
