LeadingAge Kansas was notified August 11, 2017 that KDHE is launching its final upgrade of the Kansas Eligibility Enforcement System (KEES) on August 18th. KEES is the computer system that allows Kansans to apply online for Medicaid. This system upgrade involves DCF welfare benefits programs.

Members need to be aware that during this upgrade period:

  • The online application for medical benefits and home and community based services will not be available. The paper application, available online, is still able to be printed out.
  • During the upgrade period (which has not been defined), the State will only be able to approve new medical benefits in the case of emergencies.

To help with processing, those seeking Medicaid benefits are encouraged to apply and provide all necessary documentation prior to August 18th.

LeadingAge Kansas is aware that this is problematic for our members. The last update of KEES did not go well for long term care providers in our state. We are talking to KDHE to get further information as to the timeline of this upgrade.
