There has recently been some questions being asked about healthcare and their ability to use door stops as an extra precaution for an Active Shooter scenario. This is the response from CMS to the Fire Marshal’s office regarding that request:

“We do not believe the statutory and regulatory requirements for the LSC that provide a minimal level of protection against the risk of fire can be disregarded to respond to another potential risk. As the 2012 LSC requirements do not allow for the use of door stops, we do not believe their use can be approved at this time.”
