Bluestem PACE of McPherson, a nonprofit dedicated to helping seniors live well at home, hosted its 2nd annual 5K walk/run this past Saturday. The event raised $6,776 for the Good Neighbor Fund.

The Good Neighbor Fund assists Bluestem PACE participants who encounter unforeseen circumstances and assists Bluestem PACE in providing high quality services to seniors and their families.

“It was a fantastic morning with many runners and people cheering them on,” said Derek Yoder, director of fund advancement for Bluestem Communities. “We were very pleased with the turnout; we had 90 people register. We are thankful to the community for their support.”

Following the 5K, an awards ceremony took place to honor the top male and female finishers in addition to the three fastest competitors in each age category. Kevin Nickel was the overall top male finisher and Wendy Dinkel was the overall top female finisher. Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. provided each winner with a new pair of running shoes. Local coffee shops also provided tastings and snacks for the runners/walkers post-race.
