CMS posted an Quality, Safety & Oversight Memo (formerly known as an S & C Memo) on Infection Prevention and Control Training for Nursing Home Staff in LTC. Phase 3 or the Requirements of Participation (RoPs) includes specialized training for an infection preventionist. The requirement is effective November 28, 2019.

CMS and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are collaborating on the development of a free online training course. The course will be free and available online and ondemand, Spring 2019. CMS will release the web address and release date in the future. Please take a moment to review the memo that outlines the topic areas for training.
