Village Shalom in Overland Park is pleased to announce Paige Wheeler, licensed nursing home administrator, as its vice president of health care services. Ms. Wheeler oversees the facilities, health care, nursing, social services, therapy and admissions functions for the Overland Park retirement community.
“The challenges and pressures of increased regulatory requirements and the need to meet quality measure benchmarks is high in our industry,” said Wheeler. “These are challenges I enjoy based on the rewards of knowing I have an impact on successfully raising the bar and implementing practices to assure the highest quality of care and services are being delivered.”
Prior to joining Village Shalom, Wheeler was executive director for John Knox Village East – a Higginsville, Missouri Life Plan retirement community. She served as the community’s health care administrator for seven years before assuming the executive director role in 2016. Wheeler began her career in social services with the Missouri Division of Aging.

Paige’s role is critically important in today’s world of senior care due to the higher acuity levels of residents we serve, intensified federal regulations and constant changes in the industry.”
Wheeler serves on the board for LeadingAge Missouri, and holds a number of board roles with municipal and advocacy organizations in her hometown of Higginsville. These organizations include the Mayor’s Advocacy Council, Industrial Development Authority, Lex La-Ray Technical Center Advisory Board and the Care Connections Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
“It is an exciting time to join the team with major renovation and expansion projects underway,” said Wheeler. “These improvements will allow Village Shalom to pave the way into the future of providing high quality health care in a state-of-the-art, homelike environment.”
Wheeler is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri, and holds a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s in social gerontology. She and her husband, Gary, have two sons, Lauden and Blaine.
