Sister Cyprian,  a 97 year old resident at Dooley Center in Atchison She recently had one eye removed due to health reasons and was still able to successfully crochet. That in itself is an accomplishment, but Sr. Cyprian is a go-getter and never gives up.  She recently submitted her crocheted afghan to the local county fair and she is delighted to announce that she received Reserve Grand Champion.  She is so excited that she is wearing her ribbons pinned to her shirt, laughing in excitement for her accomplishment.

“I thought I was only going to get a white, and I got reserve grand champion.”, she stated.  “In all the years I have done handwork, I have never kept anything for myself.  I once made an afghan for my bed but my brother wanted it so I gave it to him.”  Sr. Cyprian will be 98 in September.  Her team at Dooley Center and LeadingAge Kansas wish her a very honorable Congratulations!
