The Fire Marshal would like send out a reminder note about one of the code sections related to the use and storage of liquid oxygen in resident room that was new to the 2012 edition of NFPA 99.
NFPA 99 -2012 Section 11.7.4 will only allow the use of liquid oxygen in resident rooms that have a minimum of 1-hour fire rating. That means a minimum of a 45 minute rated self-closing door on the room and 1-hour rated wall construction around the room.
If you are unaware if the room in question is protected by the 1-hour rated wall, check with your code footprint and that will give all the information needed.
