LeadingAge Kansas is accepting interested applicants who would like to sit on either the Workforce or Public Policy Advisory committees. Both committees meet virtually. 

The Workforce committee will meet monthly and work on developing a workforce toolkit for LeadingAge Kansas members to utilize in overcoming challenges and barriers to recruitment and retention. The committee will also provide feedback and initiatives LeadingAge Kansas is participating in workforce development for long-term care. All staff types are welcome, and there are no limitations on the number of individuals on this committee. Associate members may also participate. The Public Policy Advisory committee will assist the LeadingAge Kansas Board of Directors and Government Affairs staff in setting and evaluating legislative priorities. The committee will offer guidance to the Government Affairs team, enabling LeadingAge Kansas to offer prompt input on impending or potential legislation, and to engage in or lead endeavors aimed at ensuring the efficient advancement and execution of public policies related to aging services. The committee will consist of nine (9) members, including the Board Chairperson or designee as an ex officio member. Meetings will take place monthly May-December and will focus on identifying areas of interest or issues for the Board of Directors to prioritize when setting legislative priorities. The committee will meet weekly January through May during legislative session to offer real-time feedback to the Government Affairs team. All staff types are welcome and four (4) additional associate members may sit in on the committee but will not participate in any voting matters. Kylee Childs, MSW, is the Director of Government Affairs.Since joining the association in 2023, she continues to be a fierce and resourceful advocate for aging services in Kansas. Her professional focus has always been service to others through advocacy. Kylee has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a bachelor's degree in criminology with a minor in Conflict Analysis and Trauma studies from Kansas State University, and a certificate in Grant Proposal Writing from Fort Hays State University. With a professional background in law enforcement and child welfare, and a successful 2023 legislative practicum with the Children's Alliance of Kansas, she brings rich professional experience to her role as Director of Government Affairs, and a front-line perspective on the needs of health and human services providers in our state.
