The State published the proposed Medicaid per diem rate for each Medicaid certified nursing home and long term care unit starting July 1, 2019. It also includes a lengthy narrative about how the rate are calculated, and justification for rates.
The range of per diem rates varies widely, with the lowest rate at $113 for an individual nursing facilities for mental health (NFMHs). NFMH rates are typically much lower than average nursing home rates.
The highest NF rate came in at $268. The average rate is $192, an overall increase of .97% over last year.
A total of 323 providers participate in the Medicaid Nursing Facility Program. The statewide average occupancy is just over 81%.
KDADS reports that the new rates will cover 95.23% of the estimated direct health care costs incurred by participating providers statewide.
