The Kansas Department for Health and Environment Medicaid Eligibility division provided a document with helpful tips and links for navigating HCBS Medicaid applications. In addition, the department said providers could do the following to assist in expediting application processes:
- Keep the provider’s designated contact updated in the KDHE database. See email that is sent out quarterly to providers to update that contact information below:
“Effective September 2022, KDHE implemented a quarterly check with each facility in the Nursing Facility Liaison Program to ensure that we have the correct point(s) of contact and most up to date contact information for each point of contact. We are conducting our fourth quarterly check this month, September 2023. It is imperative that we are notified when there has been a change in points of contact as soon as the change occurs. We also encourage each facility to ensure any new points of contact are made aware of the KDHE Nursing Facility Liaison Program and how to contact their assigned KDHE liaison unit. Doing so helps maintain effective communication between KDHE and each facility, which ultimately benefits applicants/residents. Please reply to this email only if your facility contacts have changed and/or updates are needed.”
- Utilize the Document Upload Portal and report any system IT issues to KDHE so they can troubleshoot the tool. If you want to keep a running tab of what documents you have uploaded, you will need to print or save the confirmation page that is displayed after uploading documents.
- Nursing facility providers should utilize their designated unit email as that will automatically loop in a supervisor who can review and assist with expediting if needed.
